We are excited to announce a restructuring of our divisions for players league age 8 and younger. Our primary objective in making these changes is to keep players challenged and developing each year. Please refer to the little league age chart to determine your player’s league age (the age they will be on August 31, 2025).

Based on feedback from parents and consideration by the league board members, we are adding a new division for 8 year olds (Single A). Additionally, we are reworking a few aspects of the younger divisions to introduce skills to better prepare players for year-over-year progression.

Players will default to a division based on their league age. The TCLL board and the division commissioners are committed to ensuring that your player is placed in the appropriate division. It is our belief that players in this age group should play with their friends and classmates unless a significant safety issue exists.

According to the guidelines outlined below, the division your child is assigned to may differ from the one initially assigned.

FAQs

Why is Twin Cities Little League making these changes?

Several parents have provided feedback that the progression of players at the 6-7 year old range was limited by a 2 year Farm program. For the past few years players essentially repeated the same program, that was not ideal. The league formed a committee to evaluate a few different options to balance player development & introduction of competitive elements with inclusivity for all players. We are confident that the new division alignments will keep players engaged while preparing to advance to the next level.

The other change this year is the addition of Little Sluggers for 4 year olds. Other Marin little leagues were offering the program and we have a terrific T-ball facility, Gilardi Field has capacity to accommodate. Not to mention, it’s stinkin’ adorable.

How & when will I be notified on what division and team my player has been placed?

Teams will be announced by the coaches in mid-to-late February. This allows teams 3-4 weeks to prepare for opening day on March 15th, 2025.  Note: Little Sluggers may start later.

My child is older than his/her classmates, can they play with their friends?

It is the philosophy that players at the younger ages play with their friends and classmates wherever possible. Unless a significant safety issue exists, we will work with you to ensure that your child has a terrific experience playing baseball with his/her friends and classmates. Please contact the league commissioner to discuss.

My child is an exceptional baseball player, can she/he play in a league above her/his age range?

This is generally the exception and not the rule in the younger divisions. The new division structure is designed to keep players challenged and building skills year over year but we do understand some kids may benefit by playing out of league age. Please contact the commissioner to discuss the best placement for your player’s development.

Are there player evaluations?

There will be evaluations for players in the Single A division. There are not evaluations for the t-ball, farm or rookie divisions. Stay tuned for more information from the league about evaluation day for the Single A division.
