Single A
"When you have fun, it changes all the pressure into pleasure." -- Ken Griffey, Jr
A (single A) is for league age 8-year-olds. Players at this level graduate to primarily coach pitch, standing from the mound, and introduce limited kid-pitch, with the Little League official ‘hardball.’
Single A introduces the concept of competition early in the season, with three recorded outs ending an inning and the score being kept in the 2nd half of the season. There is an end-of-season, double-elimination playoff tournament. Team assignments are finalized at the end of February, and parents are notified via email of their child's assignment. Single A assignments are made to balance team competitiveness, a change from the Farm and Tee-Ball philosophy. No special team or Buddy requests are considered at this level or above.
The time commitment typically includes one game during the week, one game on the weekend, and one or two practices during the week and weekend. Practices begin at the end of February.
